Long Long Day

Well we finally hit sunshine and somewhat warmer temps....all the way to 60 degrees!!! We drove a fair distance today, not necessarily by choice, but we started a little later than usual and ended up finaly pulling into a motel asking if we could stay in their lot for the night. Everything was going reasonably well and we had decided to stop at Edisto Beach State Park in South Carolina. Once we got there the problems began, as the trees and corresponding tight sites were such a problem that we decided to ask for our money back (not a problem)and go on. Problem was there were no vacancies anywhere and certain people were getting cranky !!! We bought fuel and were going to stay in the truck parking area at a truckstop, but that too was a problem as the whole place closed and we were a little hesitant to stay without anyone else there. As I said earlier we finally ended up at a motel that was full but had some space behind that they allowed us to pull in and stay with permission.
Tomorrow were going to try a find a spot to spend new years that maybe has a beach or something quiet and peacefull rather than drive to far. Sorry no pictures today but will work on that tomorrow.

Broken Down

It never fails....just when we get comfortable we seem to have one problem or another. This time its a only a broken belt on the engine, but we are pretty far from any truck stop for repairs. We did get or are getting someone to help but we are patiently waiting for them to arrive. Unfortunately, we won't make Charlotte to meet with friends One thing that is kind of neat though is our new DATASTORM internet connection. We can connect via satellite anywhere in the US as long as we have a clear view of the southern sky. At any rate, while we waited we were able to surf the web as well as try to locate a part for the motorhome. I know... a fun toy though and as an added feature it picks up Direct TV automatically (for a price of course) Below is a picture of the dish deployed.

Anyway after almost 6 hours of sitting we were back on the road. Our special thanks to Brock Tire & Service of London, Kentucky....they treated us very well and it was much appreciated.
We will miss spending time with our friends the Ritchies and Delmars...maybe next years trip.

On the road again!!!

The Holidays are over and we had a wonderful time with the family but.....were back again on the road in the motorhome and our first stop was at Kentucky's Horse Park in Lexington Kentucky. A beautiful park and at this time of year they have a light show that's kind of neat.

We both thought of the grandkids who are enamoured of trains when we say the this one.

We spent the first part of our trip here worrying about what we may have forgotten but it will take a few days. The best part of this trip so far is that it got up to 60 Degreees with the sun shining by the time we arrived here in Kentucky.

Tomorrow we head to Charlotte, N. Carolina to visit friends then on to the east coast.

Christmas 2005

Absolutely the best of Christmas is the children and their joy with all of the activities. We are going to start again on our road trip and hopefully it will last a little longer this year. Our first stop will be Kentucky Horse Park on the 28th and then South from there with stops in Charlotte, NC and along the Southeast coast.

In the meantime, as I said before the children are special and we have 4 beautiful grandchildren seen with us below:

We want to wish all a merry Christmas
